Wow...Remember when I had time to update?
Wow, you guys, I feel so bad that I haven't properly updated in such a while. School has been really crazy. It's only my second year at Science Academy, but they really piled on the homework this year. As I mentioned before, I've got to do science fair again this year, but I've got so much weekly homework with my AP classes I just haven't had time. Let's recap what's been going on with me so far:
Wow...is that really it? Seems like this month has just flown by...and that's all that happened. Well, wait, that's not true. My friend Mouse is throwing a Halloween party this Friday...even though I don't celebrate it, I don't wanna be alone that night. I'll go hang at her house. I don't know what's up with me but I've been feeling really emotional lately. Like, I keep asking myself, what's gonna happen after high school? What am I gonna do? Between stressing about homework and chores and everything else I feel like I'm going to bust. I think I need to take some time off from school to clear my head. Hopefully I can hold out until Thanksgiving break. -What do you do to relieve stress? -What's your current favorite song? -Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years? My answers: eat, "Put On" - Young Jeezy ft. Kanye West, I don't know yet. Posted on 26 Oct 2008 by ariana
Hey, you're that girl on the news, right?
So, I've recently been recruited as part of our school's morning announcements team. We broadcast live everyday, and I run the prompters for the anchors. I have officially been in charge of the 'Today's Famous Birthdays' segment. I get to be filmed every day. It's kind of cool because I'm meeting alot of new people in the halls, they're like, "Hey, you're the birthday girl, right?!" or they shout out my name out of nowhere. It's pretty cool, only our media teacher is very uptight and kind of sarcastic, which is kind of a downer. But there's a good mix of kids on the media team. I'm enjoying myself so far.
For those of you who read my last post...my Zune didn't die, it just froze! Thank goodness! But...it froze again this morning, on the bus...again, another little thing that ticked me off. Today at lunch was superfly. This dude Cory took everyone's orders at our table and drove to McDonald's. I didn't have to pay; he said he didn't take money from girls. BOO. YAH! I was one happy camper. Wait. Scratch that. One full happy camper. Is anyone else addicted to the Yoplait yogurt containers? I love those things. Which is weird, considering I usually don't like fruit inside other food, but I like strawberry or peach Yoplait. I've been downing them every since school started, something about their cold creaminess in the Texas afternoon heat is very soothing. :) - What is your latest favorite snack? - What extraciriculars are you involved in in your school/community? - Stripes or polka dots? No, I'm Not Dead...
It's been too long, eh? I never thought I would've had THIS much homework ever. I have so many projects to do and books to read it's ridiculous; I should probably be doing homework right now. I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm still alive and breathing.
So Hurricane Ike hit last weekend...my great grandparents live in Galveston and my cousins live in Houston...there's been a mandatory evacuation for both cities, but my family is okay. Thank God. Last Friday I went to my school's annual Tailgate Party. Basically we gather in the courtyard around 4:30pm, eat and play games for a few hours, then the school district buses us to a football game. I went last year, and it seemed to be more fun then. Some of the kids that went last year didn't come this year, which had me kind of disappointed. I don't see alot of my friends this year because of schedule changes and all. But I had an alright time. Got to talk to my good friend Brandon, which I haven't done in a while, so that was nice. My Zune died last night...I was so angry, I started crying. Not 'cause it died, but because I was so angry. Yesterday was a day of little things going wrong all at once, and the Zune thing was like the big finale. But, on the positive side, I'm covered with a Best Buy protection plan, so I'll get my money back to go buy another one. The best part is, I can get an 8GB instead of the 4GB I have now because the prices dropped. So there's my little ray of sunshine, you could say. - What is one piece of technology you couldn't live without? - What is your favorite sport to watch; play? - Who is your favorite rapper, and why? My answers: - Zune, obviously :) - Basketball for both - Too many to name. I especially like Mos Def, Nas, and Talib Kweli, for their creative genius and flair on every record. None of them sound like anyone else, their concepts for videos and lyrics are original and socially conscious, which to me, makes an artist. Posted on 21 Sep 2008 by ariana
Clever Comedy?
This weekend found me in Houston, Texas, visiting my cousins for the first time in two and a half years. I missed them so much; I lived with them for a short time, but during that time, they became my brothers and sister. I hadn't seen them since because of family issues and drama and just stuff, but it was really, really good to see their faces and hear their voices again. As soon as I got there, it was like nothing had changed, and I liked that. Anyway, recently I've been really into Comedy Central specials. While browsing the stand-up comedy on demand section, I found a comic named Hari Kondabolu. Hard to say, but the guy is a comic genius. One of the few taking comedy to its furthest limits and being hilarious at the same time.
You guys will crack up. -Who's your favorite comic? -What is your favorite TV show and why? -Do you think art and media can influence people, and why/why not? Posted on 07 Sep 2008 by ariana
School's Back in Session...
I HUGELY apologize for not updating in such a long time. School started Monday for me, and believe me, sophomore high school homework is no joke. I've been swamped until 11:00pm every night, and I have to wake up at 6:00am to catch my bus. Which I almost missed yesterday because our bus driver decided to show up ten minutes early without telling anyone. Good thing I live three houses down from the stop, which ironically, is an elementary school. I saw something the other day I thought was hilarious. A set of twin boys walking to the elementary school - one Black, one white. FREAKING HILARIOUS. They looked exactly the same, with the features of a young Black kid, but the white kid looked like an Albino Black man. I don't know what came over me, I couldn't stop laughing. Anyhoo, it was fantastical seeing all my friends again. I'm taking two AP courses, World History and Psychology. I'm really psyched about taking psychology because I find it fascinating. Too bad it's only a one-semester course. I actually have lunch at a decent hour this year with people I like (lol) so that's cool. Homework on the first day? You bet. Algebra 2 pre-AP SUCKS. lol. -How was your first day back?-What's your favorite class? -What did you like most about the first day back at school? Added 3 New PSDS feat. Chris Brown & the Harry Potter Cast. Posted on 28 Aug 2008 by ariana
